“I can see your building,” the rider wrote. “Unfortunately, it is reflected in a window on the other side of the road.” The little marker made a neat circle. The estimated arrival stayed at two minutes.
The important detour
There was a cat asleep across the shortest route. The rider had considered the options and concluded that the cat was having a better afternoon than either of us. We agreed not to interrupt it.
Almost is a place
By evening I stopped watching the number and started reading the updates. The tea was imaginary, the map was imaginary, but a minute spent smiling was real. The rider was still two minutes away.
